LASG URGES STAFF TO PREVENT FIRE OUTBREAK


The Lagos State Government has called on all staff to do their best to prevent fire outbreaks in government offices and at their various home.


The Permanent Secretary, Office of Political, Legislative and Civic Engagement, (OPL & CE), Engr. Abiola Kosegbe made the call during a Fire Prevention sensitisation programme organised by the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service (LSFRS), tagged “Mitigating Fire Risk Through Fire Prevention”, held on Friday at Alausa, Secretariat, Ikeja.


Kosegbe, represented by the Director, Political Directorate (OPL & CE) Mr. Ayodeji Aruna expressed her gratitude to the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service team for the enlightenment, noting that as responsible citizens and staff of the State Government, it is germane to prevent fire occurrence and also mitigate fire outbreak in workplace, home and every part of the State.


While calling on the staff present to adhere strictly to the fire drills and evacuation exercise, she assured the team from Fire & Rescue Service that the knowledge acquired from the exercise would be put to good use daily.


The Principal Fire Officer of (LSFRS), Lawal Aina, during the session, said, “Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has sent us to sensitise every member of staff on the technicalities involved in firefighting to ensure the safety of everyone”.


Explaining further, Lawal states that safety and security should go hand-in-hand in safeguarding the lives and properties of every Lagosian, including preventing fire outbreaks which is the responsibility of everyone, hence the need for the sensitisation exercise.  

The highlight of the fire drill was the presentation and demonstration of the use of various fire extinguishers. The participants were encouraged to always apply PASS (P for Pull the Pin, A; Aim at the base of the Object, S; Squeeze the Lever and S; Sweep left to right and right to left) when using extinguishers in emergencies.
