LASG RECEIVES DRUG DONATIONS FROM JAWA GROUP

Lagos State Government, through the Office of Civic Engagement, has received the first set of drug donations from a corporate organisation for the Mother, Infant and Child (MICH) programme.

The donation of 1000 packs of multivitamin capsules was received on behalf of the State Government by the Special Adviser, Office Civic Engagement, Princess Aderemi Adebowale in her office at Alausa, Ikeja, on Tuesday.

Princess Adebowale, while receiving the items, said that nowhere in the world can the government alone meet the demand and the needs of its citizens, hence, the need to partner with high networth individuals and corporate organisations to meet the yearnings of the citizenry.

She reiterated that the State Government will continue to partner with the private sector to ensure that indigent pregnant women get adequate nutrition as encapsulated in the MICH programme.

The Special Adviser, however, called on other corporate bodies, particularly Pharmaceutical, Food and Beverage Manufacturing Companies, as well as Non-Governmental Organisations in the healthcare sector, to support Mr. Governor in his efforts to secure the future of the State.

Princess Adebowale expressed appreciation to Jawa Group of Companies for the kind gesture and for partnering with the State Government on the programme.

In his remarks, the General Manager (Marketing), Jawa Group, Mr. Kapoor Surinder, stated that the company donated the multivitamins in line with its Corporate Social Responsibility and in support of the Mother, Infant and Child programme of the State.

He revealed that the company would continue to support the “Womb To School” initiative with their products in all areas.

Recall that the MICH programme was recently launched by the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, in a bid to boost neonatal brain development from conception to birth and also assist indigent expectant mothers in the State to meet all nutritional needs for cognitive development and immunity against some killer diseases in children.
